Diplomats of our Primary Boards must demonstrate knowledge, discipline, leadership, and research experience in their chosen field of specialty.
Candidates must be a Member or Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons and produce credentials verifying extended and adequate training, annual continuing medical education credits, licensing to practice medicine and surgery.
Credit toward certification may be granted for publications, research experience, certification by other boards, attendance at scientific meetings, and Fellowship in other sister Royal Colleges. Unless prior examination is certified by the American Council for Board Certification, oral and written examinations are mandatory.
In addition to the United States, examination centers have been set up in India, Korea, Philippines, West Africa, Europe, Middle East, Caribbean Islands, Japan, and Hong Kong. Special arrangements can be made for interested candidates not residing in these regions.
